Lyft has acquired the
U.K. business of London black cab app Gett for an undisclosed amount with the
deal expected to close in the coming weeks.
The acquisition enables
Lyft to offer a range of ground transport options from black cabs to bikes and
chauffeur services in London.
Just over a year ago
Lyft acquired ground transport app Freenow for €175 million establishing a
presence across Europe. Lyft also provides the technology and bikes for Santander
Cycles across the U.K. capital and recently announced plans with Baidu to test
autonomous rides in London.
The San Francisco-based company also acquired TBR Global Chauffering for $110 million in October 2025.
“This acquisition
advances Lyft’s sustainable global growth strategy by expanding “out” in more
locations and “up” into more high-value segment,” the company said.
“With Gett, Lyft is
expanding its coverage of London's full ground transport ecosystem,” said
Jeremy Bird, EVP of global growth for Lyft. “This milestone reflects Lyft's
commitment to the London market and our belief in its long-term potential.”
Gett adds existing
drivers and riders to Lyft as well as its enterprise business. The Gett team will
transfer to Freenow by Lyft once the acquisition closes.
Gett was founded in
2010 and raised $100 million in 2020 to expand its B2B business. Prior
to that the company had raised $800 million. The company also has a presence in Israel.
