American Express has partnered with Airbnb to offer home rentals through Amex Travel.
Effective today, more than 1 million Airbnb listings worldwide are available to U.S. cardholders, including Airbnb Luxe properties. As of May 2026, Airbnb said it had over 9 million active listings worldwide.
The move expands Amex Travel’s upscale accommodation offerings while giving Platinum Card members incentives to book Airbnb's luxury listings.
U.S. Consumer and Business Platinum Card members can now apply their existing $600 annual lodging credit, previously known as the hotel credit, to eligible, prepaid Airbnb Luxe bookings of at least two nights. The benefit, which provides up to $300 in statement credits every six months, was previously limited to qualifying bookings through Amex Travel’s Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection programs.
The expansion follows American Express’ September 2025 Platinum Card refresh, which increased the annual hotel credit from $200 to $600 and raised the annual card fee.
Platinum members who make a qualifying Airbnb Luxe booking can also unlock a new annual $250 credit for eligible Airbnb Experiences bookings purchased directly through Airbnb.
The addition of rental options aligns with luxury travel preferences identified in Phocuswright’sQuiet Luxury in Motion: The Indulgent Explorer Mindset. The research found that 36% of high-spending U.S. leisure travelers cited privacy and space as factors that make a luxury trip worth the price.
Cardholders can search Airbnb properties through a dedicated Homes tab on the Amex Travel website or app, using filters for amenities, property type and other preferences. To book, travelers must connect their American Express and Airbnb accounts and complete the reservation through Airbnb.
Reservations can be viewed through Amex Travel, but servicing—including contacting hosts, making changes or cancellations and accessing customer support—is handled through Airbnb.
The partnership also allows eligible cardholders to earn reward points on prepaid Airbnb bookings made through Amex Travel, with earning rates varying by card type.
