Handiscover, a specialty online travel agency for
people with reduced mobility or special needs, has secured €1.6M in funding through
the EIC (European Innovation Council) Accelerator.
Founded in 2015, Handiscover offers booking of hotels,
apartments and other accommodations, all classified according to their level of
accessibility. The platform currently has more than 35,000 properties in more
than 100 countries.
"Knowing the current state of the travel industry
and the challenge of raising money for any startup right now, securing this
grant is testament to the unique and innovative services that Handiscover
offers,” says Sebastien Archambeaud, CEO of Handiscover.

“Ironically enough, we
have never stood on firmer ground than now."
Archambeaud says the
company has qualified for “blended funding,” meaning that in addition to the
grant there will be an opportunity for an equity funding round with the European
Investment Bank and professional investors.
The company will use the capital to continue to further
develop its product.
Its last
funding came in a $700,000
seed round in August 2018.
