Quite a week for Qantas. After grounding its planes on Saturday, being forced to restart operations on Monday, surely nothing else could go wrong?
Unfortunately, one of its A380s had to make an unscheduled stop in Dubai this morning after one of the aircraft's four engines suffered a problem and was shut down.
Those with reasonably long memories will remember a more serious engine problem affected one of the airline's A380s on a flight from Singapore to Sydney.
And those that believe in coincidences will marvel in the fact that today's problem took place exactly a year to the day since the Singapore incident.
The way the airline handled the previous A380 issue from a PR perspective was confusing to say the least, although views remain mixed as to how the airline has handled the recent industrial relations problems.
So there must have been a sharp intake of breath at Qantas Towers when the A380 was forced to land early and when it then emerged that one of the world's most high profile public figures on Twitter was also on-board.
Writer, broadcaster, comedian and all-round generally well-loved and respected Stephen Fry, who has a Twitter following of close to 3.3 million and is prolific at charting his day-to-day activities, was flying back to London from Singapore.
Here are some of his tweets...
Early stage confusion...
Anxious?
Logistics!
Now, this is where it gets interesting. Unclear if Qantas sensed the social media chaos that might have ensued if Fry was not able to get some his personal effects from the aircraft, and therefore sorted it out.
But Fry was clearly happy... And posted a picture of the leaflet that was handed to passengers explaining the reasons for the forced landing.
In later Tweets, Fry explains the arrangements being made for him to get back to the UK - on an Emirates flight, it appears.
Suspect a huge sigh of relief at Qantas that an already tricky week on the PR front didn't get much worse. And perhaps hoping Fry will retweet its message, the airline has publicly thanked Fry for his patience.
Not quite a social media love-in, but infinitely better than it could've been.
