Forget gender stereotypes, women would prefer to play games via mobiles than use them to chat during a flight if it was an option.
Further findings in research, from inflight mobile network AeroMobile, reveal that 70% of Britons would use their mobile during a flight if they could.
Of the 2,000 people surveyed, half would use a device to send text messages, 44% would use it to access applications such as Facebook and Twitter and a third would browse websites.
Less than a fifth would use inflight mobile services to make a call and it is men that are more likely to than women according to the study.
The research also throws up generational differences in mobile usage with more than 80% of under 35 year olds saying they would use their mobile during a flight compared to just over half of those aged more than 55.
AeroMobile says 5.5m devices connected to its passenger network last year and claims it will double the number of airlines working with its service this year. In an interview in November, chief executive Pal Bjordal said he expected 350 aircraft to be fitted with the service by the end of 2013.
The poll was conducted by One Poll on behalf of AeroMobile.
