Canadians are starting to catch up to travelers from the United States and Western Europe in their use of online booking systems, with the most growth coming from travelers age 18 to 34.
More than six in 10 Canadian travelers in that segment only or usually booked online in the past 12 months, compared to just 44% of travelers age 55 and older.
Online gross bookings are projected to grow 11% in 2017 to reach C$18.6 billion.
Overall, Canada’s travel market is projected to grow 6% in 2017, a strong outlook given fluctuations in the Canadian dollar and other spotty economic factors.
