To boost customer acquisition at its properties in Las Vegas, MGM Resorts International is operating its package booking platform using Expedia Powered Technology.
The partnership will open up MGM Resorts to Expedia Group’s more than 550 airline relationships through the backend technology solution.
With package bookings - which bundle together flights and hotels - MGM Resorts intends to bring more customers to its hotels through the channel.

Package bookings account for nearly 25% of Expedia Group’s bookings to Las Vegas, and travelers that book packages also tend to book two times further out, stay two times longer and have one-third the cancelation rate than travelers booking just hotels.
“Package bookings are a strategic way for hotels to take advantage of an incremental booking channel that provides a lot of benefit,” says Melissa Maher, senior vice president of marketing and innovation at Expedia Group.
“By leveraging the package booking solution in our Expedia Powered Technology offering, MGM Resorts is able to leverage another customer acquisition avenue in an already strong travel and hospitality market.”
The technology powers package booking offerings for all MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas.
