Ramping up of the revenue-generating options for Gogobot with news of new hotel search and booking tools and a deal with OpenTable for restaurants.
Probably the most important update to the service is an overhaul of how users can search and book hotels in a destination.
Gogobot has struck a partnership with newbie DealAngel to give users the ability to see when is the best time over a given period to find the cheapest prices in a city, rather than just for a specific property.
The DealAngel technology and feed via a calendar takes into account when room prices in a city might go up during trade shows or other major events, for example.
An existing agreement with Booking.com has been tweaked so users can head off to the OTA to secure a booking once they have a price.
OpenTable reservation tools have also been added to the site for restaurants, CEO Travis Katz says, as the site continues to arguably outperform many of the other social travel startups which have hit the scene over the past two years or so.
It has 2.5 million members, with around one million known as active - they check the site at least once a month using their Facebook log-ins, Katz says.
The final new product unveiled this week as part of a suite of features to celebrate its second birthday is integration with Google Streetview so users can explore a destination in greater detail.
The tool is embedded in existing city pages and also allows users to move and explore inside some buildings (those that have opted to take the service from Google).
Katz admits the final (and arguably bigger) element in the overall travel planning service on Gogobot remains untapped.
Flights brings in such small margins, Katz admits, with integration into the core service still also something the team have yet to work out, at least in terms of how it would fit in to the overall user experience of the site.
Tours and activities, however, or at least the ability to book reather than just list them, will come in due course, he says.
