Interesting new feature from air travel social network Planely with an upgrade to the platform so users can locate other passengers with similar interests.
The Danish startup [TLabs Showcase - Planely], a service which tries to connect passengers on particular routes, using LinkedIn, Facebook as well as its own platform, now allows users to tell the system about their favourite brands.
For example, users can select which media brands they read (such as TechCrunch, Mashable, FlyerTalk), logos of which are then added to the passenger's profile.
The idea is that passengers can contact one another on the flight or at the airport and know they potentially have common interests.
Here is a mock-up image:
Planely CEO Nick Martin says:

"What we're looking to do here, along with the other social media integrations, is to further encourage people to meet each other based on different information types.
"So, if I see someone in my Matches, who from their LinkedIn profile I can see is a couple of steps away from me but in a different industry, from Facebook I can see they're also a Radiohead fan and a snowboarder, but also jumping out the page is that they read the same sites as me, then... cool, I'm definitely saying hello and suggesting to meet as we're bound to get on."
NB: Planely has given Tnooz a brand profile on the new service. Which is nice.
