CarTrawler
has created a mobility SDK (software development kit) that enables airlines to
offer new ground transportation options to their passengers from within the airline’s
mobile app.
The
new platform provides access to both pre-booked and on-demand transportation to
and from the airport from suppliers including Lyft, Cabify, Gett, Careem,
MyTaxi and Grab as well as bus, coach and rail options.
It
also allows airlines to offer customers the ability to earn and burn loyalty
points for their rides.
“Our new mobility platform will revolutionize the travel
sector by offering customers a simple, one-stop-shop for all their travel needs
to and from the airport,” says Aileen McCormack, chief commercial officer at
CarTrawler.
“Airlines can now connect the dots and instantly utilize this
platform in-app, offering customers a superior booking experience and
reflecting the reality that those who don’t rent, ride.”

CarTrawler
estimates the mobility-as-a-service market will reach $1.75 trillion by 2030,
but it says currently only 59 of the world’s 473 airlines offer mobility
services to customers.
“By
owning the first and last mile, airlines can maximize revenues from this
rapidly growing sector and future-proof their business. At the same time, they
will be able to offer customers every possible travel option, strengthening
brand loyalty as a result,” says Charlie
Coniglio, senior vice president for CarTrawler’s North American
operations.
The
new platform also enables airlines to send push notifications to customers
regarding transportation bookings and offers.
In
April 2018, CarTrawler announced a partnership with Splyt to access its
on-demand taxi suppliers.
CarTrawler
says it works with 2,000 travel partners and 2,500 transport suppliers.
