Amadeus is making further inroads into the Asia Pacific online travel market with the launch of a natural language chatbot for the LINE app, a free messaging platform popular in the region.
Developed in partnership with GoHero.ai, Amadeus’ @flightbot finds travelers where they’re already dwelling – on mobile – and provides real-time support and booking assistance using English and Thai.
The bot – which is initially being tested in Thailand, where Amadeus says 33 million people use Line – allows users to chat privately to search for and purchase flights.

Along with providing service to travelers, the bot will serve as a marketplace for Amadeus travel agents to connect with users.
"Connecting with travelers in a timely and intuitive manner is important in today’s increasingly connected and automated world," says Simon Akeroyd, vice president of corporate strategy and business development at Amadeus Asia Pacific.
"With the new 24/7 bot on Line, travelers using @flightbot will gain direct access to Amadeus’ global content and technology via Amadeus-connected travel agencies with just the touch of a button."
