U.S. drivers using Apple CarPlay now have access to Google's artificial intelligence assistant Gemini when using Google Maps.
The rollout is also happening globally, Google announced today. The capability allows CarPlay users to talk to Google Maps while driving.
Google first announced Gemini in navigation to Android and iOS users in November 2025, enabling users to find places along their route or find vehicle charging stations within the Google Maps app while on the move.
Now through CarPlay, drivers can ask multistep questions about famous parks with good views, the best time to go and what the weather will be like. Users can then instruct Gemini to start navigating to a destination and add instructions such as avoiding tolls.
Google described it as a way to find stops while on the go and get more information about destinations, also giving drivers the option to report traffic disruptions.
To use the feature, drivers can tap the Gemini icon in Google Maps on the car's display.
In March, Google also launched a Gemini-powered conversational interface and updated navigation features in Maps.
