Mobee Travel is on a mission to help people with disabilities
or reduced mobility enjoy travel anywhere in the world.
The France-based startup provides services in 70 countries,
with additional growth underway thanks to a €1.5 million funding round earlier
this year.
Founded in 2018, Mobee Travel has created a certification
system based on more than 100 criteria that checks if an accommodation, such as
a hotel or campsite, is suitable for people with accessibility needs. The
company also coordinates transportation and assistance with activities and experiences.
In a discussion in the PhocusWire Studio at Phocuswright
Europe, founder Lucas Gebhardt and director of strategy and business development
George Sans explain that the company also provides much more tailored services,
for example ensuring there is a medical bed or oxygen in a hotel room –
anything that the customer may need.
“Our differentiation point is the quality of our customer service.
Because we are addressing some specific customers, they need assistance, and we
need to qualify ... what they need, their level of handicap, so we need to be strong
at customer service,” Sans says.
The company is also offering its services to companies to
assist their employees with accessibility needs when they travel for work, and
it is launching Mobee Travel Pro, reselling its services to travel agencies.
In the interview with PhocusWire editor in chief Mitra Sorrells,
Gebhardt and Sans explain more about the growth plan for Mobee Travel.
