Cunard, the luxury cruise line owned by Carnival Corporation,
is partnering with a travel tech startup to offer unusual and curated recommendations
from locals in each port it visits.
The agreement with Cool Cousin gives Cunard passengers access to 200 destination guides
created by residents in those cities, with tips on things such as restaurants,
art galleries, coffee shops, retail outlets and more.
Passengers can download the guides 15 days before sailing to
begin planning their shore experiences.

“The Cunard customer is becoming ever more curious and
adventurous, seeking authentic recommendations. These guides are powered by
locals, which makes it easier for our guests to seek out unique experiences in
every destination they visit,” says Sam Cole, Cunard’s shore experiences director.
In addition to the download option, guests get access to
printed versions of the guides once on board.
“We are delighted to be working with Cunard to help their
guests unlock unforgettable local experiences in hundreds of ports across the
globe,” says Callum Hale-Thomson, Cool Cousin's vice president of business development.
“By leveraging machine learning, AI and the power of local
knowledge, our dynamic sourcing engine identifies the best places to eat, drink
and explore in each port, providing guests with a curated guide delivered
straight to their mobile device.”
