Branded vacation rental network RedAwning has snapped up the assets of fellow rental startup VaycayHero.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
RedAwning will take on the staff, property relationships and technology of the six-year-old company as part of the deal.
VaycayHero will continue to run as its own brand after returning bookings to the system.
The site ceased operations after 31 January this year.
CEO Anirban Bardalaye, who had successfully raised over $4 million in funding for VaycayHero, told Tnooz at the time that the company was expected to be acquired and services would then be restored.
The company began life as Zaranga in 2011 (TLabs here), using a dynamic pricing model for users to "name your own price", similar to the Priceline system of old.
It inevitably fell foul of the fiercely protective branding gurus at the Priceline Group for using the terminology in its marketing and was forced to change the wording.
The company changed its name to VaycayHero in 2013.
Still, despite the recent problems, RedAwning CEO, Tim Choate, says:

"We have a great deal of respect for the team and business that VaycayHero has built, particularly, their success in delivering a professionally managed rental experience.
"They will help us accelerate the growth of our industry-wide standard for 24/7 guest services for vacation rental properties."
RedAwning has 100,000 properties in over 10,000 destinations around the world. It recently launched new host and rental manager tools.
