Trip38 is the latest Bangalore-based travel tech start-up to pick up funding, with the travel management app confirming INR 6 crores (c$1 million) in Series A cash.
The business featured as part of the TLabs series nearly 18 months ago.
The funding comes from InterGlobe Technology Quotient (ITQ), part of InterGlobe Enterprises and Singapore's Lantern Capital.
Trip38 is a travel management app, currently available in Android and IoS. It offers itinerary management, status alerts, airport services and location-based destination guides. It has been designed so that once downloaded it can work offline.
The funds will be used on product development and marketing. Trip38 has global aspirations - it has been downloaded 25,000 times from 170 countries, with between 40%-50% of users from India.
One of the founders, Sesh Krishnan, said that the first enhancements would be the addition of features such as "new digital boarding passes [and] smart location-aware services using iBeacon."
Anil Parashar, ITQ's president and CEO, noted " a huge market potential with Trip38’s global product; hence investing in Trip38 was natural business symbiosis to us. ”
ITQ is the official distributor of Travelport's Galileo system in India and Sri Lanka.
