Most would consider it a luxury to have the opportunity to retreat from the rat-race for a week and create something.
But some of the best ideas have been created by getting a bunch of people in a room and away from their day-to-day routine as Tnooz Thack has shown.
And, the team from Brighton-based design agency Clearleft have shown just how productive an experience it can be when they decided to take off to a Herefordshire farm to throw some ideas about, see which garnered most interest and go head and develop it.
The result is Map Tales, a map-based platform for telling and presenting stories which could work well across a number of sectors, particularly travel and tourism.
The above tale draws inspiration from Sydney locations used during the filming of the Matrix but the possibilities for stories are endless.
Clearleft founder Andy Budd says:

"People have revolutionised pictures and video online but have not done the same with mapping and it seems like a great mechanism for telling stories for anything from education to trips to New York."
And, it's quite a step from the way maps are currently used within travel websites.
One of the team provides a full account of the Hackfarm week via his blog but the result is a simple tool, which enables anyone to tell a story using maps and images, and share it or embed it within their own website.
Apart from tweaking the site, the company is currently content to sit back and see how people are using it.
