Fun and rather curious project from metasearch site Skyscanner which has set itself a target of developing a new service and generating one million tweets within 24 hours.
The product, known as FlyScan, is a Twitter service which allows followers to tweet flight search requests and receive an immediate response with the best flight and price available with a link to the page on the main Skyscanner site.
But rather than put the project on the company's existing development roadmap, bosses decided earlier today (Weds 23) that every department would down tools on their existing projects and work on FlyScan for 24 hours.
Technicians are working on the code, marketing and PR is trying to get the message out, and the bosses are supervising (presumably!) the troops during the marathon session at the company's Edinburgh offices.
An added incentive: get the product working and have generated one million requests within the 24 hours and UK charity Comic Relief will receive £25,000.
