Social seating start-up SeatID ran a survey in August and September on travellers' attitudes to finding a buddy to sit next to while you fly.
The company, which is in private beta, has created an infographic with the results which unsurprisingly shows concerns around how information will be used, what will be visible etc
Apart from those hurdles, travellers seem to broadly embrace the concept with 60% saying they'd be interested and 30% saying it would depend on the airline.
Interesting to note that despite the number of initiatives around social seating, travellers view it as a fun option as opposed to a must have with 37% saying it will make for a more fun flight experience and 32% saying it will enable them to connect in a new way.
Survey participants were asked to view the following video explaining social seating prior to getting involved in the survey.
