CellPoint Mobile has unveiled a new product to address two travel provider pain points: securing direct bookings and reaching a mobile-first audience.
Voyage, the technology service’s latest offering, aims to help airline, rail, ferry, cruise and other transportation operators rely less on third-party bookings and instead boost direct-channel sales through its booking engine and web application.
The Voyage suite includes Voyage Native, a channel-agnostic iOS and Android booking engine, which is available to more than 99.6% of smartphone users across the globe, as well as Voyage Web, a responsive, single-page web application that works across mobile, desktop and tablet devices.
“Travel enterprises need a booking solution that is fast, robust and front-end agnostic, both to meet customer expectations and to create a more streamlined path to purchase,” says Noel Connolly, CellPoint Mobile’s senior vice president and global head of sales, airlines and hospitality.

“This is particularly important for global operators or travel merchants seeking to penetrate new markets - such as the Middle East, where half of all bookings take place on smartphones, or Asia Pacific, where that same number is around 44%.”
The UX of Voyage Native is designed to deliver a high-quality native mobile experience, and Voyage Web provides a travel merchant-branded, optimized interface with responsive design across devices.
“An optimized mobile booking engine such as Voyage that offers a native app experience as well as a desktop or mobile web pathway not only enables increased bookings, but also creates opportunities for travel merchants to cross-sell and upsell to their passengers, guests and patrons at many touch points throughout the entire travel journey,” says Connolly.
“And with an 81% cart abandonment rate across the global travel industry, and two in five travelers dropping transactions due to a poor mobile experience, it is imperative that brands offer a smooth path to purchase."
The Voyage products also help eliminate the need for travel merchants to contract with various payment providers by offering integration with CellPoint Mobile’s Velocity payment platform, which supports a number of payment methods such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.
