With apps in abundance in the industry and many services increasingly pitched at the mobile travel consumer, companies are ramping up their efforts to push their wares.
In an effort to raise awareness of its mobile credentials, KLM Airlines is offering a free mobile battery for every booking made via a mobile device.
As of writing, a total of 14,099 mobile bookings have been made, with 330 batteries still to be given out.
This promotion ends on December 23, 2013 and is only valid in Hong Kong, Singapore, Norway and United States.
In a related move, Yamsafer, a Middle East-based hotel reservation service, has introduced an offer in which users who book hotels in Amman will be offered a Zain (a local telecom player) SIM card that will be preloaded with 1 GB of data upon check-in.
Yamsafer customers will be able to choose a preferred number when they book online in the site, this would enable users to pass on the local contact number to friends and family even before arriving at a hotel in Amman.
The SIM card also comes with 5000 free minutes for Zain subscribers, 60 minutes free calls on other networks and the ability to receive international calls without roaming charges.
Currently, the company is testing this model, and if proven successful, it will quickly spread throughout the Yamsafer hotel network.
