Marking its first distribution deal outside the US, Airbnb is making its inventory available through Russia-based online accommodation service Ostrovok.
According to a statement the deal will extend Airbnb's reach across the region while hundreds of thousands of properties from the peer-to-peer marketplace are now available for booking via Ostrovok.
Airbnb head of global operations Varsha Rao says the company is already seeing "significant growth in Russia and the surrounding area."
Ostrovok claims it now offers the biggest choice of accommodation in the world with 900,000 options. The company says the partnership was data driven based on the desire to stay in apartments for longer stays.
Commercial terms of the partnership have not been disclosed.
The Moscow-based startup (TLabs here) was founded in 2010 and has raised more than $50 million to date.
In July, Airbnb announced integration with Concur enabling business travel users of the TripLink system to directly book accommodation within the P2P business.
Concur says use of Airbnb by its customers has quadrupled every year since 2010.
