Northstar Travel Group, parent company of PhocusWire and Phocuswright, has signed on as a member of CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance equality in the workplace.
Northstar joins the initiative alongside more than 800 organizations pledging to practice and promote the highest standards of equality and ethical practices in the global marketplace. In addition to Northstar, travel signees include Expedia Group, which heavily promoted its efforts at its Explore event earlier this month.
CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion is an initiative started by PricewaterhouseCoopers whereby CEOs commit to productive, inclusive and diverse workplaces. The four pillars of the pledge include:
- We will continue to make our workplaces trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion.
- We will implement and expand unconscious bias education.
- We will share best - and unsuccessful - practices.
- We will create and share strategic inclusion and diversity plans with our board of directors.
Says Northstar Travel Group chairman and CEO Tom Kemp: “This initiative is important for us as it is driven through sharing information and best practices around actions that encourage diversity and inclusion.
“As a company committed to sharing information and knowledge, it’s important that our own efforts toward better diversity and inclusion both reflect and benefit the travel industry clients and partners we serve.”
The pledge furthers Phocuswright’s current initiatives around diversity and inclusion including its Gender Equity Study, the Women’s Leadership Initiative and the company’s gender diversity in the C-suite; it also aligns with the soon-to-launch Phocuswright Connects mentorship program, Young Leaders program and startup program that encourage young people in the industry.
