Kyte has raised $9 million and has expanded its car-rental service in Washington D.C.
The funding came from DN Capital and Amplo VC, while former Uber executives, Toby Sun, co-founder of Lime, and Terry Jones, co-founder of Kayak and Travelocity, also joined the round.
San Francisco-based Kyte, which offers a car-rental to your doorstep service, says the investment will enable it to accelerate growth across new geographies.
The startup currently offers a service in Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as Washington D.C.
The company partners with professionally managed fleets to supply the vehicles which it says gives it time to focus on its technology and the customer experience.
Steve Schlenker, co-founder and managing director, DN Capital, says: “The pandemic has accelerated the transformation of cities and consumer behavior with respect to transportation. Kyte’s unique operations layer facilitates this transformation while providing a level of service and convenience that other solutions fail to meet.”
Kyte, which was founded in 2019, says it has grown 400% since March and that more than half of its booking are repeat customers.
