Daytrip, a platform that connects travelers with local drivers, has landed €1 million in funding.
This investment is part of an ongoing Series A round, in which the company hopes to secure a total of €5 million.
The deal, a convertible note, was split equally by new investor Nation 1 and previous investor J&T Ventures.
In 2017, J&T Ventures participated in a €600,000 seed round.
Prague-based Daytrip provides tourists with local English-speaking drivers. "With Daytrip, you have a personal driver who will pick you up where you want and drive you to your destination in another city,” says Tomáš Turek, the co-founder and CEO of Daytrip.

“If you want to stop somewhere on the way, like a castle, small town or for lunch, it is up to you.”
Since its launch in 2015, the company has recruited 3,000 contractual drivers in more than 60 countries on four continents.
“We currently serve 65 countries worldwide,” says Turek. “Uber’s boss recently said they were in 70. We are going to overtake them within a few months.”
The startup says its turnover has grown from around €3 million in 2017 to nearly €15 million in 2019.
Says Adam Kočík, managing director of J&T Ventures: “The company is well-positioned for further dramatic global growth and can become synonymous with long-distance transportation for tourists and travelers.”
The funding will be used to fuel geographical expansion and to grow the engineering team.
“Tomas and his team are working hard on the company, they have succeeded with it and were not discouraged,” says Marek Moravec, managing partner of Nation 1.
“They have built a platform that is unrivaled and are also stepping on the toes of other companies that are successful worldwide.”
