- P&O Cruises has gone social for its 175th anniversary with applications for its dedicated website and Facebook page. The cruise specialist used Headstream for the apps with existing fans encouraged to upload a P&O Cruises Postcard Memory to a timeline while a Photo Mosaic app asks people to upload a photo and become part of a giant mosaic. Headstream has also developed a dashboard drawing all social media mentions around the event.
- WAYN (Where Are You Now?) is claiming a milestone with 20 million registered user, 10 million added in the past five years. The travel social network, founded in seven years ago, says it now attracts between seven and eight million unique users a month with approximately 200 million page views served.
- Singapore Airlines spin-off low cost carrier Scoot is tying up with Expedia Affiliate Network for a white label deal to include hotel content on its website. Bookings via EAN will be available via the Scoot site, targeting passengers using the airline to destinations in Australia, China and Thailand. EAN already works with Tiger Airways, Jalan and WebJet in the region to provide hotel product.
- Avis is trialling portable wifi networks for customers using Edinburgh Airport in Scotland. The paid-for units are small enough to fit in a pocket or back and give car hire users access to web networks throughout the UK. The devices allow a user to connect up to five separate devices - such as a phone, laptop, tablet, etc - at any one time.
