- Long-haul specialist Destinology has taken to Facebook and Twitter to boost its followers via an "Ultimate Holiday" competition. The three-week campaign has already gained 7,000 likes on Facebook and 500 new Twitter followers since launch six days ago. Competition participants need to answer a weekly-changing question on Destinology's website with the answer provided on the operator's competition videos.
- goCarShare, the car-sharing service for festival lovers, has added 50 new festival partners to its service and created a community of 7,000 people since launch last year (TLabs here). The company has also received a thumbs up from Reading, Leeds and Latitude festivals which are providing free priority car parking to the first 200 goCarShare users to sign up. The service is also launching goCarShare Sessions to transport bands to festivals with a video-blog on their journey filmed along the way.
- Still on the subject of cars, CarTrawler has made a number of senior appointments with David Paterson joining as chief financial officer and Michael Cunningham as chief operating officer. Paterson previously held product and finance director roles with the online division of TUI Travel while Cunningham held various senior roles within SITA. The car-rental distribution platform received undisclosed investment from ECI Partners a year ago.
- Multicom is claiming Medhotels, the agent-facing brand of Thomas Cook accommodation brand Hotels4u, as the first major win for its Cancel and Amend service on the FindandBook plaftorm. The facility enables minor changes to be made online as well as allowing agents to enter APIS (Advanced Passenger Information System) online.
- WHL Group and ResOnline have formalised their collaboration on Hotel Link Solutions by creating a joint venture. HLS develops digital marketing solutions for small and medium sized accommodation players and the joint initiative will enable it to draw on expertise from both companies.
