WSJ Travel, an online travel agency marketed by the Wall Street Journal, ceased operations.
Visitors to the website see the following notice on the homepage: "WSJ Travel has suspended operations until further notice. Current WSJ Travel customers will be contacted by a Wall Street Journal representative in the next few days. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this development."
The Wall Street Journal's online travel agency operation actually was run independently by Advanced Travel, a travel startup, headquartered in Iselin, N.J.
Travel Weekly U.S. reports that Advanced Travel, which launched its services in late January, lost its sole investor and fired its staff of roughly 25 travel agents.
