TripAdvisor maintains that its decision to restrict reviews from streaming into pages of Google Places remains in place, despite reports to the contrary.
Various reports in recent weeks had suggested that the blockade of content had been lifted and reviews are now appearing once more against searches on Google Places.
A number of reviews are indeed filtering through to a number search results, but TripAdvisor says there is no change to its existing strategy and the restriction remains in place.
Sticking pretty much to the original line from early-December 2010, an official says the restriction will continue as the company still does not believe users "benefit with the experience of selecting the right hotel".
TripAdvisor is in "constant discussions with Google", the official continues.
However, the nature of such talks is a mystery, with TripAdvisor staying tight lipped as to what assurances (if any) it wants from Google - or vice versa.
