User review giant TripAdvisor is talking up its mobile services in a big way after putting user generated destination lists and tours into its smartphone application this week.
Traveler Lists and Tours will join the existing services on the app including hotel and restaurant reviews, things to do, flight search and the forums. The app was originally launched in May 2010.
There are currently around 7,500 user generated lists and tour suggestions within the TripAdvisor system following its launch under the GoLists name in 2006.
The mobile version of GoLists allows users to browse through suggested itineraries and obtain basic information about the points of interest or locations indicated on the list. Links send users off to the main TripAdvisor site for more detailed content and reviews.
TripAdvisor used the NokiaWorld conference in London to make the announcement - it added Nokia to the platforms capable of taking the app in August 2010 (joining Apple iPhone and Android).
But within the release came an announcement about traffic to the TripAdvisor mobile platforms, such as visits via a mobile web browser and the app.
In August 2010 the mobile versions of TripAdvisor attracted over three million unique visitors, officials say.
To some this might sound like an enormously healthy figure - but actually represents around 8% of overall traffic (it grabbed 50 million monthly vistis in June 2010).
