Germany-based tours and activities marketplace Rent-a-guide has acquired its local competitor LocalGuiding.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
LocalGuiding was founded by Robert Blessing, Toni Stork and Alvaro Olivencia. Post this acquisition, Blessing and Sork will be joining Rent-a-guide.
Founded in October 2010, Rent-a-guide currently lists about 8,000 products that have been experienced by more than 100,000 users with 97% customer recommendation score, claims the company.
LocalGuiding has about 7,000 products on its site that are provided by about 3,500 local guides.
With this acquisition, Rent-a-guide has shifted its focus towards the international market and it will now offer over 15,000 products (in 130 countries) ranging from sightseeing tours, local dining experiences, excursions and activities.
The majority of the integration between LocalGuiding and Rent-a-guide is expected to be complete by April 2014.
CEO of Rent-a-guide, Florian Ziegler, says:

"More than three years ago we set out with a vision to become the one-stop shop for activities and now, with the integration of LocalGuiding, we reached this goal, on a global level and multilingual.
"Of course this is just one milestone of many to come in this exciting global multi-billion dollar market."
Yesterday, tours and activities startup Peek raised $5 million funding, taking the total investment to $6.4 million.
Recently, Singapore-based tours and activities marketplace BeMyGuestacquired Indiescapes.
