FunTouristAttractions might appear to be (yet) another content-heavy travel website - but the new site has included a rather unique feature inspired by bookmarking site StumbleUpon.
First look indicates editorial, external link, image and map-rich landing pages for destinations around the world, put together in a easy-to-use way that is still reminiscent of many travel content sites.
Tucked away elsewhere in the site, however, is a map-based tool called Stumble Travel which has borrowed heavily from StumbleUpon, a site which randomly selects bookmarked web pages for users to see and rate.
The concept was adapted here so that users can stumble on travel-related videos based on various destinations on the map, all of which are embedded in pop-up boxes.
If the user likes the video they can be directed straight to the landing page on the main site to find more content. The videos are selected by following keywords in YouTube.
