Skyscanner has reintroduced search for package holidays from the likes of Thomas Cook and OnTheBeach, three years after abandoning its previous effort.
The service sits within the existing site and is powered by Distribute Travel, a new UK-based holiday distribution platform (TLabs Showcase - Distribute Travel].
Similar to the hotel channel feed from HotelsCombined, product is supplied by Distribute Travel but the look and feel is based on the new Skyscanner design unveiled in February this year.
Around 14 package holiday providers are included in Distribute's platform. It is expected the package holiday search tools will be extended to Skyscanner's other country sites in due course.
The last attempt to include package holiday search on Skyscanner ran from January 2008 to May 2009. Skyscanner says the latest version is "more flexible in design".
The reasonably short-lived idea to provide holiday search was powered by Affiliate Future.
By amazing coincidence, two of Distribute Travel's executive team - Giles Parnwell and Nic Costa - were at Affiliate Future during some of the partnership with Skyscanner, with Parnwell then heading the company's travel division.
