A Singapore hotel is to use robots to help with some of the guest services for its rooms.
The M Social property has deployed the device known as AURA in a bid to alleviate what the hotel claims is a manpower shortage in hospitality in the city-state.
AURA delivers bottled water, fresh towels, toiletries and some room service meals to guests.
The device has a personality, officials claim, allowing guests to interact with the device when "she" delivers items to the door.
Staff at the hotel can place items in the lid of the device, tell it where to go and then, after the rounds a complete, it returns to its docking station behind the scenes.
AURA can ride in lifts, navigate its way around the hotel and automatically send a notification to the guest's mobile phone when it arrives at the door.
The device was developed by Savioke and it is the first time it has been used outside of the US.
