The Year of the Chat Bot shows no sign of easing up, with Ixigo creating what it says is the first such one for the Indian travel sector.
Ixibaba works along the same lines as others already in the market, allowing travellers to find the best ways to plan a trip by using natural language-type questions on Facebook Messenger for details on flights, hotels, buses and cabs.
As well as returning results from the metasearch engine's portfolio of products, Ixibaba will also discuss the weather, attractions and information on destinations.
The company admits the service has taken 12 months to develop and only has an 80% accuracy rate so far during tests on travel-related queries.
Ixibaba has mined some 30 million data points from destinations, points of interest, routes and things to do, with it programmed to use further techniques such as machine learning to broaden its repertoire of responses and knowledge bank.
Fellow metasearch engines, Skyscanner, Cheapflights and Kayak, have all developed similar services in recentmonths.
