A tourism board in China has launched a Facebook app that enables users to send their messages to loved ones, and at the same time, also market the destination.
Hangzhou, the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province in eastern China, is taking a bold step with the campaign - not least because the card with the best love message will be featured on a full page of
The New York Times on Valentine's Day, February 14.
The Facebook app, called as "
My Chinese Love Story", allows Facebook users to create a valentine post card and send it to loved ones in Facebook.
Also, users can either design a card to be sent to a stranger (will be sent to some random user of the app) or pick a card that was sent to a stranger.
Users of the app can design the card by selecting from various Hangzhou-themed templates, and add a personal message.
The tourism board prints the first 2,000 entries and sends it to the intended recipient using stamps with a Hangzhou theme and bearing a Hangzhou postmark.
