More money flowing into B2B travel startups with news that mobile "engagement platform" GuestDriven has raised $3 million from a number of institutional investors.
The Canada-based company, which launched three years ago, has been backed by Plaza Ventures, Real Ventures and Structure Capital in a bid to push its SaaS platform to hoteliers.
Angels supporting the company in earlier rounds (previous amounts undisclosed) include Expedia board member Peter Kern, John Granger (COO of Drake Hotels) and Bob MacDonald (president and CEO of Maritz Loyalty).
The core product works by evaluating a hotel guest's history, spending power, interests and social media activity and influence. It then allows a property to provide, via any device, relevant local tips, recommendations and on-site services and "perks".
GuestDriven is currently deployed with 115 hotels and 35 cities around the world.
John Stokes, a general partner at Real Ventures, says:

"Their platform is an entirely new way for hotels to do business with their guests and for guests to experience hotel stays, using streams of data untapped in an integrated fashion before now."
