Google has been deploying its StreetView mapping technology into new locations, such as offering inside views of businesses around the world. Royal Caribbean is the latest to map its business: the cruise ship. The cruise line deployed the technology on tour of its latest ship, the technologically-advanced Quantum of the Seas.
A startup called TourDash is behind the packaging of the StreetView technology into this particular application, deploying Google Trusted Photographers to document businesses and include a drop-down menu for virtual guests to fully explore the business.
The menu is an essential piece of expanding the functionality, as it allows the guests to quickly cycle through different areas of the business without having to click through the entire space.
The mapping offers up an exhaustive view of the ship, from the decks to the rooms to the various on-board amenities.
Some highlights:
Bionic Bar: This ship has some industry-firsts, and these two automated bartenders are most definitely on that list.
Royal Loft Suites: This type of loft room might be more at home in a penthouse hotel room in a big city rather than on the water.
Solarium: Inclement weather might keep
xBox Arena: Just in case the enormous sea views and other on-board activities aren't enough, park the kids in front of these giant screens and let them go at it. Or let the parents loose on the dodge 'ems while the kids play...
