Multi-modal travel search is gathering pace as GoEuro today announces $4m seed funding led by Battery Ventures and Hasso Plattner Ventures.
Industry leaders including ITA Software founder Dave Baggett and Jeff Sagansky of airline entertainment firm Global Eagle Entertainment are also part of the round.
Worth mentioning that Battery already has experience with other travel startups including HotelTonight, Gogobot and ITA Software.
The funding will be used to help scale up the technology of the European travel search platform and bring more people on board as it heads into private beta in the next few weeks.
GoEuro aims to enable travellers to find, combine and compare all the options on the various methods of transport (air, rail, bus, car rental) across Europe.
According to founder and chief executive Naren Shaam it is different to existing multi-mode startups because of its technology and commercial aspect in that it presents specific routes with times and pricing.
He says the company has secured partnerships with UK train operating and European train and bus operating companies with some of the funding earmarked for integrating those partners.

"We're not sharing the extent of our partnerships but through affiliate deals we have access to most train companies in the UK as well as partnerships across Europe."
GoEuro has been in development for about six months and the plan is to launch the B2C site in the UK and Germany first followed by a partner-by-partner and country-by-country approach.
Shaam adds that the company will evalute the B2B market at some point.
