Priceline's Agoda hotel business partnered with Air China, extending Agoda's distribution reach in China, other Asia-Pacific countries and beyond.
When Agoda customers book a hotel on a cobranded Agoda-Air China landing page, members of the airline's PhoenixMiles frequent flyer program will earn five miles for every 10RMB they spend on the hotel booking, the companies say.
Air China customers can book Agoda's hotel inventory and they receive confirmations in English or Chinese.
Agoda offers a choice of some 4,000 hotels in China alone, and 155,000 globally, the company says.
And, the partnership extends to many of Air China's destinations. The airline, a member of the Star Alliance, offers booking sites in nearly 30 countries around the world.
The Agoda-Air China partnership occurs as Expedia and Priceline/Agoda are teaming with airlines to extend their hotel businesses in Asia-Pacific.
The two global hotel businesses are furious competitors in the region and the opportunity is so massive there is plenty of room for both and other players to thrive.
Agoda recently partnered with Jetstar Airways and the duo is developing air-hotel vacation packages through the Jetstar Holidays network.
And, Expedia has gone a step further, forging a joint venture with AirAsia in Japan, East and Southeast Asia.
