GetGoing has lifted the lid on its FlightFinder technology which highlights cheaper options nearby to consumers when they search for a flight.
The startup (TLabs here), which came out of beta last month with its 'Pick Two, Get One' opaque discount model, has added the intelligent search technology as part of its strategy to help travellers save money.
FlightFinder works on the basis that most leisure travellers don't have to go A to B but could instead go to somewhere nearby B and potentially save money.
GetGoing co-founder and CEO Alek Vernitsky says traditional online travel agencies work well for those origin to destination type trips but lack the inspiration side.

"If you're a customer that says I need to go to Rome, most sites will just show flight prices to Rome, we take other places around Rome to see if there is a more affordable option."
FlightFinder shows prices for five nearby airports with lower prices as well as the original requested destination and the company says that a 15% reduction in price yields a conversion increase of just under 30%.
GetGoing also points to travel analyst data showing that 37% search for where they want to go and then abandon the process because it's too expensive.
The service is initially only available for flights from the US although GetGoing says it is months away from a European launch and will customise search results then.
FlightFinder also enables consumers to search by region, experiences (beaches, honeymoon, family friendly) and countries as well as draw wisdom from friends by linking to a traveller's Facebook profile.
Additional content such as descriptions of places, images and maps are also being integrated.
Amadeus is GetGoing's partner for primary inventory but it also has direct connects to a number of airlines.
