Tnooz published an article "ANA bails out of Unisys next-generation airline reservations system" on 31 May 2011 commenting on changes to the reservation systems at the Japanese airline.
The article was based on a number of incorrect facts and the subsequent interpretation of that inaccurate information by Tnooz Node Timothy O'Neil-Dunne.
Tnooz is now happy to set the record straight.
ANA (All Nippon Airlines) operates two very separate reservation systems - one for domestic services and another for its international network.
The international system (the smaller of the two in terms of passenger volume, accounting for around 20% of total passengers) is moving from its existing provider IBM's TFP system to the Amadeus Altea platform, scheduled for completion to all modules of the suite by 2015.
The domestic system (almost 40 million passengers in the 12 months ending March 2011) is migrating from the Unisys USAS platform to the new Aircore reservation service, also provided by the US-based Unisys.
The move is on track and due for completion within a few months. Unisys continues to be one of a number of players in the reservation system business and is looking forward to remaining so in the future.
In addition, Germany-based Hahn Air is, in fact, a bona fide airline that conducts its business within IATA regulations.
