Amadeus and UNWTO say they are developing the prototype for a door-to-door planning and ticketing system following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two.
The aim of the multi-modal service is to bring together all different transport options to improve getting around and between different destinations.
The signing of the memorandum also strengthens the existing relationship between Amadeus and the UNWTO and will see the pair work together other initiatives such as the UNWTO Talent Development in Tourism pilot.
This is not Amadeus' only development in multi-modal services as the distribution giant was appointed to lead the European Commission's All Ways Travelling consortium two years ago.
The consortium's aim is to devise a multi-modal pan European rail ticketing system and build "a proof of concept" based on a study conducted by Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
