One of the figures at the centre of Sabre's takeover of Abacus in 2015 has landed one of the top distribution jobs at the company.
Roshan Mendis is now chief commercial officer at Sabre Travel Network, after being promoted from a senior role overseeing markets in EMEA and Asia-Pacific form July last year.
A career-Sabre employee, he is widely credited with overseeing the $411 million acquisition of the remaining shares in Abacus, but has now landed what Sabre says is a key position in its distribution division to oversee its "next-generation retailing and distribution" strategy.

The purchase of the final 65% stake in Abacus followed a protracted negotiation process - hindered by the previous ownership structure of the APAC-focused global distribution system involving 11 airlines in the region.
The deal finally went through in July 2015.
The promotion of Mendis comes a month after Travelport appointed Robert Bailey as its new chief strategy officer.
Bailey was the president and CEO of Abacus until the sale of the business to Sabre.
The newly-created role at Travelport sees Bailey charged with overseeing a five-year and annual business plan, business development, strategic alliances and other internal strategy tasks.
