Wanda Maps has switched focus to help consumers to find local information during the COVID-19 crisis.
The startup, which was an online platform for personalized maps with local recommendations, is now putting its efforts into collecting and sharing local information, such as the businesses that are still open and how best to shop at them.
Wanda Maps is also providing its software for free to help businesses, who see other mapping software as too expensive, to organize themselves.
The company says that projects so far using its technology include examples similar to the local businesses and shops open example above but in geographies such as the U.K. and Canada.
In addition, the software has been used to create directories of where to go for COVID-19 testing.
Navit Reid, founder and CEO, says: "In a nutshell, wherever we have found a use for the platform as we've built it so far, we're using it to support COVID response projects. There are more popping up every day, so this will continue to evolve, but that's our current status.”
