Months after announcing plans to expand its travel business, Indian financial platform Paytm is making a strategic investment into bus ticketing technology company Infinity Transoft Solutions Private Limited.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it is reportedly worth up to Rs 10 core (about $1.4 million).
Since launching in 2016, Paytm Travel has sold more than 100 million tickets across flights, trains and buses.
The company offers bus tickets for more than 62,000 routes with 2,000 private bus operators.
“This partnership will help us bolster our payments and ticketing technology solutions for bus operators and enable us to provide a more seamless booking and post booking experience to our growing base of online bus ticketing customers,” says Abhishek Rajan, senior vice president at Paytum Travel.

Rajkot-based Infinity was founded in 2008 to address pain points for business operators with its inventory management software.
In addition to its technology that streamlines ticketing and booking, Infinity offers live vehicle tracking through GPS and in-bus entertainment with its MagicBox solution.
Rajiv Dhamsania, co-founder and director for Infinity, says that the funds will be used to “rapidly develop travel-focused tech products and expand our footprint on pan-India.”
“We aim to make bus operator profitable by using artificial intelligence, which will result into better operational efficiency and better facility will be provided to passengers.”
