Amazon, a company which did not exist until 1995, has revolutionised the high street by shaping itself for the digital age, and working faster and more efficiently than its rivals.
Unsurprisingly, Amazon has garnered nearly as many enemies en route as it has fans.
The Seattle internet giant is beloved for the convenience it brings, but it is also blamed for killing off independent retailers up and down the country.
It has driven prices down, often turning local shops into an endangered species or, in many cases, making them extinct.
