- Visuals and stories - a new direction for the official online presence of VisitFinland with a new website unveiled last week. The new service is available in nine languages and positioned to showcase the "exotic and unique features" in the country, rather than act purely as an information portal. Visitors coming in via desktop or mobile will have content served based on their current location (IP). The site normally attracts around 100,000 visitors a month, the Finnish Tourist Board says.
- Enterprise software company Infor has snapped up SaaS hotel revenue management system provider Easy RMS. Terms of the deal to buy the UK-based company were not disclosed. Easy RMS has around 1,200 customers in 61 countries around the world, providing software to the likes of Best Western, Guoman, Mercure, Novotel and Sofitel. The acquisition will add to Infor's existing portfolio of software for front office, reservations, HR and sales and marketing in hospitality.
- iPad app ahoy for destination guide service GuidePal. After creating and placing guides for 60 destinations into a single app earlier this year, initially for iPhone and with plans for Android and Blackberry users in the coming months. The iPad app version includes content and guides from locals and travel journalists, as well as reviews and tips added each week. [NB:TLabs Showcase - GuidePal]
- InterGlobe Technologies and WebJet are extending their existing agreement to include services and products in the hotel sector. The move continues a relationship between the India-based system provider and WebJet which began in 2007 with back-office technology and, in 2010, multi-channel support. The latest shift will see InterGlobe also focus on hotel content maintenance alongside the existing services it provides to WebJet.
