- Snow sport travel technology provider Inntopia is heading east from its North American home to Europe. The company has opened an office in Zurich, Switzerland, which will act as a base for its expansion to the continent. The growth strategy will be spearheaded by Michael Meier as European director, joining the company from the Tourism Board of Chur where he was director. Inntopia recently secured its first Australian client in the form of the mountain resort of Thredbo.
- Spanish start-up carrier Volotea plans to use a range of technology services from Lufthansa Systems going forward. The airline which began operations in April will adopt the tablet-based Lido/iRouteManual technology once it has been approved by regulatory bodies. The system includes navigation charts, route information as well as details on airport take-off and landing procedures. The data can also be tailored to specific aircraft.
- HotelsCombined has gained a further 9,000 properties to its global database of hotels after signing a deal with InItalia. The addition of the Italian hotel reservation service to the portfolio brings HC's total number of properties to almost 330,000. The deal follows similar efforts in Europe to expand the number of hotels on the system by partnering with the likes of Travelmenu and Venere.
- Indian online travel agency Cleartrip is celebrating its sixth anniversary with the launch of a dedicated mobile product for travellers. The web-based service allows users to book domestic and international flights, access destination guides, reserve Indian rail tickets, check and manage PNR information and secure hotel bookings.
