Mobile specialist Urban Airship has acquired Accengage, a mobile CRM and push notification provider, with terms of the deal undisclosed.
U.S.-based Urban Airship, which provides a mobile engagement platform to a number of high-profile travel brands, has acquired the France-based company to boost its presence in Europe.
According to a statement, the combined companies will make up the “largest mobile customer engagement company” and will offer a range of solutions across applications, websites, SMS, email and mobile wallets.
Urban Airship already works with travel companies, such as Jet Airways and Starwood, while brands that Accengage has on its books include Air France-KLM, OUI.sncf and flash deals site Vente-Privee.
The companies will share the same back-end technologies and programming languages, which should enable a fast integration process between the platforms, the statement continues.
The acquisition also works well geographically, with Urban Airship strong in the U.S., the Nordics and the U.K. and Accengage in France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Accengage also adds elements such as experience with Facebook Messenger, advanced targeting capabilities and multi-language support.
The French company's boss, Patrick Mareuil, and team will stay on and become the European office for Urban Airship.
The companies point to research from Forrester that reveals notifications as a “North Star for the evolution of digital experiences” to support the potential they see in the mobile marketing space.
